Top 10 Things Ever (no specific order)

-Eating wings, and drinking beer

-Watching sports with "the dudes," while drinking beer, either at a bar or even just chilling at home. This is even more meaningful if it is watching a Liverpool game, or watching the USA beat Spain!!!!

-Eating sandwiches, and drinking beer

-Taking a nice shower, while drinking a beer. For real. Ask any of my old roommates, I love to drink a beer while I am in the shower.

-Summer (grilling out, drinking beer, no shirt on, playing catch)

-Melodic hardcore bands circa 1996-2004

-Being a nut/yelling at people randomly.

-Beer

-Playing 4square while drinking beer

-Playing Tony Hawk with Joey and Jon, laughing when our character falls through glass, and us drinking some beer.

Rise Against - The Unraveling

While growing up as a kid from Illinois who loved melodic hardcore, I absolutely loved 88 Fingers Louie. My best friend Joey and I ate them up, as evidenced by a home video of Joey dancing/bedroom moshing along to a song of theirs. So when they broke up, we were both sad, but anxious to hear their new band. I remember specifically pre-ordering "The Unraveling" by Rise Against and going apeshit when it finally came out. I even saw them play one of their first shows opening up for Thursday, The Movielife, and Boy Sets Fire at the original Creepy Crawl in St. Louis. Soon after that, they probably weren't too happy with me when seeing them at a basement show in Carbondale (I can't remember if it was at Lost Cross or 303 Elm), and me yelling at them to play Everchanging every single song. I even yelled at them to play it again after they finally did close the set out with it. Goddamn, I love that song.

Deathwish Rules

So I posted a few days ago about the 5 cds I ordered from Deathwish for just a dollar each. Well, I also paid another 5 bucks for them to randomly send me 5 more cds. It just came in the mail today, and the 5 cds they sent me are:

Trash Talk - Plagues...Walking Disease
Damage - Final
Blacklisted - We're Unstoppable
Cold World - Dedicated to Babies Who Came Feet First
Blacklisted - Heavier Thank Heaven Lonelier Than God

I'm super-stoked about this. $10 for 10 cds. $10 well spent!

$1 Albums I Just Bought

Deathwish is having a sale. A lot of their back catalog is going for a buck. Here is what I just bought:

Some Girls - All My Friends Are Going Death
Modern Life is War - My Love. My Way.
Modern Life is War - Witness
Sex Positions - self titled
Blacklisted - The Beat Goes On

I Hate the Lakers, but the Magic suck

Power Rankings

I haven't been keeping up with this as much as I hoped to, but my coworkers can be on the lame side sometimes. This is my call for them to pick up their game. Anyways, on to the power rankings:

10. Jaime - We'll always remember you. R.I.P.

9. Mauricio - He gets the honor of being the first full-timer (manager) to get on this list due to him transferring to another store. While I am sad he is no longer at my location, this does mean we can actually socialize more without our fat-kid manager having a heart attack. In fact, we watched the Champions League final together, and it was a damn good time. Especially since Manchester United lost.

8. David - Weirdo. Psycho. Killer. Can stare you in the eyes for 7 straight hours. Killer.

7. Tracy - Tracy is actually 2 different people. One is a girl, the other is a dude. The girl talks non-sense all the time. I think she is always high. The dude also talks non-sense all the time. I think he is always high.

6. Matt - This dude loves facial hair, but in a non-homomsexual way.

5. Maria - I think she was weirded out when I was talking to her about zorses. What the fuck is her problem?

4. Justin - We were recently talking about possible ideas for his dissertation, and he was talking to me about Oliver Sacks. Although this dude loves The Flaming Lips, we both get along really well.

3. Josh - has tits.

2. Edson - Coolest eleventeen year old ever. Truth.com

1. Brian - 4 moments in my life where I have laughed so hard I fell down nearly crying: when Joey shit in Dave's tub. when David Cross got hit in the head with a brick during an episode of Mr. Show. when I tackled Jon Cappuccino and he went down like a sack of shit. when Brian told me that he dated a furry that he met on jdate.com

No Sleep Til Updated Ipod

There isn't much to do when you have already been up all night long. I have basically been d/l'ing and updating my ipod with music that I have lost over the years. Here is what I did this morning:

CIV - Set Your Goals
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The Tyranny of Distance
The Misfits - Collection I and II
The Notwist - Neon Golden
Q and Not U - Different Damage
Q and Not U - No Kill No Beep Beep
Face to Face - Reactionary
Elliott - Songs in the Air

Early Morning Purchases

So today has been the 4th time in 7 days that I have watched the sunrise. My sleep patterns are just really messed up right now. In my early morning sleep-deprived craziness, I made a couple of purchases. I finally bought Wet Hot American Summer on dvd. This is in my opinion the funniest movie ever made.

I also bought a couple of shirts from Shirts For A Cure. Shirts For A Cure is for a great cause, and they have some awesome band shirts, so go spend some cash there.

Watching TV

I just watched the pilot episode of the USA show Royal Pains, and I have to say, I think I am digging it. A doctor who gets fired from his job, his engagement is broken off, and while he is sitting in self pity, his brother (played by the Jewish kid from Road Trip) drags him out for a weekend trip to the Hamptons. There, he starts saving some lives, but most importantly, checking out some hot girls and getting his life back on track. Like I said, it features some good looking girls and also a good soundtrack with all the popular hipster songs of the moment/a few months ago. Hip enough I guess. Anyways, I'm hooked for the next few episodes.

I missed this week's rescue Me, but last week's was awesome. Especially the scene when Tommy is in the bar with all of his dead relatives and then starts shooting the place up. Intense.

Also missed this week's Real World Road Rules Duel. I'll catch up this weekend.

I also love Quicksand. Both bands were so awesome.

I can't sleep, no surprise though. So I am uploading some music to my ipod. Here is my current list:

Matt & Kim - Grand
This Will Destroy You - self titled
Rancid - Life Won't Wait
Heavens - Patent Pending
RX Bandits - Progress
Various Artists - All Aboard: A Tribute to Johnny Cash
Chris Wollard - And the Ship Thieves
and some random ep thing that The Mountain Goats and John Vanderslice put together
