Random email

I just received this email at 3:25am on December 31th. What/who the fuck...

Hey Devin!

“I am going to smack your face off of your face!”
--Charlie from It’s Always…

I just saw the last episode dude and you were right, it was so perfectly-retarded!
This whole season was good: I liked the Liberty Bell episode too. Now I needs to spend the rest of the week catchin’ up on my Nip/Tuck’s.

But it was cool meeting you at Eugenio’s party and it was even cooler when your sis’ told me you was lovin’ It’s Always. You might like Strangers With Candy too cuz they have a crazy-ass sense of humor just like the fools on Sunny.

Anyway, I’m still doing the arcade thing and I still want you there if you are free. This place called Funfuzion in New Roc City got this unlimited deal on Weds & Thurs. from 4:30-0:30pm. http://www.funfuziononline.com/funhouse/default.asp

It includes Laser tag, go karts, mini golf, bowling, all that good crap. I went last month and had mad fun my fam’ (the headaches they are) so I know I’d have even more fun with fools I actually like. Ha!

OK: I’m thinkin’ Jan. 9th is a good day to go, hopefully that will give people time to get it together/sync they schedules.

Let me know if you are down, otherwise have the bomb New Years!

Books

I finished reading "Lush Life" by Richard Price and I absolutely loved it. One of the best books I have read in awhile.

I was then recommended "Shakespeare's Kitchen" by Lore Segal. I couldn't get through it. Just not my cup of tea. Yet if you are interested in reading about it, here's the review from the New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/06/books/review/Halpern.t.html

Now, does anybody want to pay my late fee at the library?

Christmas Poems

I wrote this poem when I was in second grade, and my mom recently just found a copy of it and brought it for me for Christmas this year.

WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS TO COME
by Devin Castellano (circa 1991)

There is a cold breeze,
and the ground's bout' to freeze,
but I'm inside by the tree.

Sitting by the fire,
I'm down to the wire,
Waiting for Christmas to come.

The tree is all bright
with a red sparkling light,
Waiting for Christmas to come.

I drink my egg nog
right by my old dog,
Waiting for Christmas to come.

The day has finally come,
I shout out with joy,
for I found out I got
a new toy.

5:28am

I'm awake, but hitting that wall of tiredness. I have been reading "Lush Life" by Richard Price, and this book has completely captivated me. It's a crime drama that hasn't so much focused on the actual crime, but on all the characters involved, ranging from the cops investigating it to the victim's family and also to the possible suspects. This all takes place on the Lower East Side, the area of New York City that I have enjoyed the most since I moved up here. Anyways...back to finishing he book.

"Girl, are you vibing me?"

I was at work earlier, and a daughter and her mom came up to my register to check out. The daughter looked like she was around 20-21, maybe back from college for Christmas. Anyways, I noticed her really checking me out. Her eyes were all of me, looking at my tattoos and whatnot. So I asked, "girl, are you vibing me?" This got a laugh out of her, but an angry look from her mom.

Hopefully the girl comes back without her mom.

A Double Shot of Love

A Double Shot of Love, a new show based on the Tila Tequila show, is on right now. I'm going to run my own live blog thing talking about how I would make the show better. Here we go.

The guys and girls get to the house by having helicopters drop them off, but they are all inside a big box that is being held by the helicopter by suspension cables. What I would do here to make the show better: Drop the boxes when the helicopter is still up in the air, letting the contestants all fall to their deaths.

Some girl says that the last time she was in a furry pink box was 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't change a thing about that.

Ok, 5 minutes into the show, I have already vomited twice. I'm turning this off.

In conclusion, if I was the creator of this show, I would kill everyone involved in it, and I would also probably kill myself. The only person that I would let live is this dude, as long as he only does this at all times:

I Hate Saturday Night Live

I also hate most of the Digital Shorts, but this is funny. I know it's old, but I love internet videos.

Oh shit....

I saw this on Soccer By Ives and had to re-post it up here. This kid gets so fucked:

It sucks if I was that kid that gets nailed in the face, but it also sucks to be the kid that does the flip throw, as that is the dumbest shit among youth soccer.

A Double Shot of Love

A Double Shot of Love, the MTV show, airs tonight. It looks horrible and I will not watch it, but the commercial to promote it is the funniest thing MTV has ever done:

Soccer Time

Liverpool struggled this week, losing at the last minute to Tottenham and then needing a last minute penalty to draw Atletico. Torres gets back this weekend though so hopefully the goals start picking up. Sorry there were no picks last weekend, but I was in Chicago so I was too busy drinking myself stupid.

Arsenal (1) vs. Man Utd (1)
Wigan (2) vs. Stoke (0)
Hull (1) vs. Bolton (0)
Sunderland (1) vs. Portsmouth (1)
West Ham (1) vs. Everton (1)
Liverpool (2) vs. West Brom (0)
Blackburn (1) vs. Chelsea (3)
Aston Villa (3) vs. Middlesbrough (2)
Man City (4) vs. Tottenham (2)
Fulham (1) vs. Newcastle (1)

Hitting the Road....

....with none of my best friends. All by myself, from Chicago to New York. 13 hours spent listening to Alkaline Trio. It was awesome. I also got the chance to listen to the Thursday/Envy split, and the Thursday songs are awesome. Really awesome.

Chelsea Sucks

This is basically turning into an all-soccer blog. I promise you, I'll have more updates soon, especially after I get back from my Halloween weekend trip to Chicago. It should be a great time, and I'll post all the details of it. Until then, here are the updated standings between Chae and I. Congrats also go out to Liverpool for kicking Chelsea's ass, at Stamford Bridge no less!!!

Like Liverpool kicking Chelsea's ass, Chae destroyed me this week:

Devin: 2
Chae: 8

Entire Season's totals:

Devin: 35
Chae: 39

Pick Time

So Chae did acually do his picks, but didnt bother to post them until after the games were played. I smell something fishy. Even with Chae's advantage, we still managed to tie.

Devin: 5
Chae: 5

The season's totals are:

Devin: 33
Chae: 31

Hopefully Liverpool will take down Atletico today even without Torres in the lineup.

EPL Predictions Update

The ongoing pick-em battle between Let Freedom Wing and No Shark Attacks was pretty much dead even this week, with the only difference resulting in me getting an extra point for correctly picking the score of the big Man U - Chelsea match up.

This week's scores:

Chae: 5

Season Update:
Devin: 22
Chae: 18

Premier League Picks

Sorry we missed like week. Contrary to rumors, I was not too busy watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants pt. 2. Instead I was too busy watching Definitely Maybe, the movie with Ryan Reynolds explaining to his daughter (the girl from Little Miss Sunshine) who her mother is. It was horribly lame, but Isla Fisher is so hot and I want to marry her. Anyways, on to my picks....

Blackburn (1) vs Arsenal (3)
Fulham (1) vs Bolton (0)
Liverpool (1) vs Manchester United (1)
Manchester City (0) vs Chelsea (2)
Newcastle (1) vs Hull City (0)
Portsmouth (1) vs Middlesbrough (1)

Stoke (1) vs Everton (2)
Tottenham (2) vs Aston Villa (2)

Update

Sorry I haven't had any new posts in a week. I've been visiting Chicago taking care of a few things. By taking care of a few things, I mean watching my friends get drunk and make fools of themselves (Fat, I'm talking about you). I'll be back in New York on Thursday and will continue posting then. In the meantime, go out and read the book Overthrow by Stephen Kinzer.

EPL Contest Update

After the first week of the EPL, I'm actually beating Chae over at There's No Such Things As Shark Attacks by a score of 5 - 4. Picking the actual score of the West Ham vs Wigan game gave me the advantage. We get 1 point for picking the correct winner of the game, plus an extra point for picking the correct score.

Truthfully, we both did pretty bad this week, but I'll pick up my game next week.

The Lost Boys: The Tribe

I just watched The Lost Boys: The Tribe. It was amazing. Not amazingly good, but amazingly funny/full of gore/full of Feldman/full of Autumn Reeser's hotness. She was the girl that was the smart, annoying girl on The OC. In this, she is the sister of Tad Hilgenbrink (he was in one of the American Pie movies). She drinks vampire blood and he must kill the head vampire before she fully turns into a blood sucker. Similar plot to the first movie.

Really this is only worth watching for Feldman, who reprises his role from the first one. He is basically there solely for fans of the first movie, and is able to provide some comic relief with some of the most ridiculously cliche lines.

So one I said this movie was awesome, I meant that this movie was horrible.

Yet I still really enjoyed watching it.

the real world on MTV at 3am

3:18 live blogging begins: Holy FUCK!!! Will fucking lost it. I am going to liveblog this shit. Will just told Greg his dad died cause Greg was gay/sucks. I had a kid tell me this in 5th grade and it almost killed me/ made me want to kill him. Will is a fucking piece of shit. He is doing the equivalent of picking a fight on the internet, telling Greg to fight him when he know he won't cause it will get him kicked out. Fuck you Will. Fuck Dave too for jumping on this bandwagon.

3:23 Brianna kinda rules. Greg rules. They just hugged. They should fuck.

3:25 Dave is crying for no reason. what a baby. He only got in Greg's face once Will stepped up. Greg would destroy Dave. Dave is also obviously a racist. He acknowledged that he is a dick to Greg and doesn't have reasons why.

3:27 Commercial break... man, I hope Joey shows back up in this episode.

3:30 Fuck Will, and Fuck Sarah too. Will is pretending to have anger management issues, when he is just a fucking attention grabbing little girl. He has been in the wrong since he scammed on Greg's girl. Will is talking about how Greg lost his trust.
3:31 Greg just called Will out by saying, "You are not the victim." Will walks away cause its the fucking truth. Will proves himself to be a little girl by trying to blame Greg once more time for something unrelated.
3:32 Joey calls, awesome.

3:36 They showed that they go to visit Joey in this episode. awesome. I hope someone brings him something to drink. Greg should kill everyone in their sleep in this episode.

3:39 Dave just left anger management... what a fucking meathead. I used to like him until this episode.
3:40 Joey! he is sober though, so this is actually lame. I remember how awesome he was when he was a mess and projected that on him all the time. He actually sucks.

3:47 Everyone is a fucking mess in the club again. Briana invited over that old weirdo. Greg have over that girl Will kissed. Everyone besides Sarah is in the hot tub. Sarah is a bitch about it when they come to bug her about that.

3:48 EVERYONE IS MAKING OUT NAKED. THIS RULES! Greg and Brianna are one step closer to fucking.

3:49 Greg is wasted and forgives Will. I hope he forgets he did this. Why did he even hang out with these assholes tonight in the first place? He should be planning out his murder spree.

3:54 Greg and Will just volunteered to go on stage together. More burying the hatchet between these two. Bullshit. After this, back at home, this bitch tells everyone that when Joey comes home, they can't be wasted all the time. This show is going to suck when he comes back. Actually, these people are all really dumb, I bet no one remembers this advice and Joey drinks again. I can't wait to see if this happens

3:55 I'm going to bed

Where you at?

If you are like me, you watch a lot of TV. For awhile now, Boost Mobile has had a commercial with rappers (jermain dupri) and then one white dude spitting a cheesy ass rhyme about themselves and their phones. and it got me wondering: Who the fuck is that white kid?
answer: mickey avalon. I remember hearing his name, but had no idea what he looked like and only that he was like Eminem, or the Game or something. So I looked him up on the internet and after listening to the song "my dick" on his myspace, I think I am a fan.

Neil Hamburger is still better, but I would recommend Mickey Avalon if you want to hear funny rap songs

A question for the ages...
Now when I pose the question I usually say third graders, which would make them about 8 years old, but I believe this website plays it safe so that the quiz results are correct for children that are about three years older.

This says I could take 23. I think I could take an unlimited amount of 5 year olds, but 23 is probably the number of 3rd graders it would take to subdue me.

Been Busy

Sorry we haven't had any new posts in almost a month. I don't really understand the internet/technology. A few random thoughts though....

Lord of the Yum Yum. I don't know if you would call this guy a band or a performance artist. Labels can't really describe his genious. Check out his website....http://www.lordoftheyumyum.com/

I just googled "Let Freedom Wing" and realized that it was the slogan for a Hooters Tour of Iraq. I don't care, I'm stealing it.

Go Liverpool!!! Hopefully they can beat Chelsea today.

The Real World Awards

I'm a sucker for The Real World. What can I say, I love horrible reality tv. Tonight they are having the Real World Awards. I started to watch it and it is completely ridiculous. I just had to blog about.

9:11 - Eric Neis looks like Jesus Christ now. MTV Grind fucking ruled.

9:19 - Remember when Willie from the Philadelphia cast was actually in that tv show Ghostwriter as a kid?

9:20 - Beth showed up with her husband to be. I can't believe someone would actually want to get married to Beth.

9:21 - Colie from Denver just said "I'm not good at baseball...I'm good at kissing." She's also probably good at getting syphilis.

9.22 - I was hoping my old next door neighbor David from New Orleans would have won Best Playa. How could he not win when he gave us the masterpiece "Come On Be My Baby Tonight." I mean, he's seen the way that you treated other thugs you've been with, but he still wants you to be his baby tonight. uuggghhhhh.

9:23 - Stephen from Seattle, the craziest motherfucker alive, just announced he is engaged. Obviously it is to a dude.

9:26 - Stephen is now accepted the award on Irene's behalf for best goodbye or some shit. He is such a psycho! Backstage he just exclaimed that he was religious as CT confronted him about hitting a girl. CT exclaimed "I'll pepper sauce him to death!"
Now Stephen is yelling at Bob Parker!!! Who the fuck is Bob Parker???? Stephen = psycho genius.

9:34 - If I was the general manager of any professional sports team, no matter what sport it was, I would draft both Alton and CT to be on my team.

9:36 - Numerous people have seriously thanked God when accepting their awards. Really, God had something to do with you being a reality whore?

9:40 - I feel like I have just lost brain cells while watching this. I'm turning on Top Chef instead.
Devin isn't allowed to use Cameron's computer but if he were around I bet he would post that today is this year's "Listen to Grade and drink beer day". I had one last year (which was just me drinking in Dekalb and Devin drinking in Chicago) and it ruled. more people should participate this time.

Also, if you are feeling down today, look at some of your first myspace comments... for the most part anything said about you in them is positive and/or hilarious. The only problem is it also might make you really nostalgic.

Stolen bikes ride faster,
Jonathan

The Hills

I was up at around 4 in the morning last night and needed a break from reading, so I started watching the newest episode of The Hills on MTV. I learned that it is hands down the lamest/addictive show on tv. I hate the characters, yet for some reason I watched the entire episode. I learned two things:

1. There is a place in Colorado called Crested Butte

2. I guess it's cool to be a tambourine player in a band, cause some French dude got on the show just for that. Seriously though, a tambourine player? I would rather be that asshole violinist in Yellowcard.

Irish people like to drink

Irish people like to drink, and have a good time. I went to the Irish South Side parade this past sunday and had a great time (although I look pissed in this picture). It was my first time there and it certainly was an experience. Especially after meeting Lar-Dog. This kid randomly and drunkenly stumbled up to me and introduced himself as Lar-Dog. He exclaimed that if I called him Larry or Lawrence, he would kick my ass. I think he was about 18 years old because he could not handle alcohol. He was so drunk he couldn't even figure out how to use his phone. Lar-Dog was awesome.

(the other guy in the picture is not actually Lar-Dog. it's Tommy D)

LABOR DAY, 2002

i'LL BE POSTING A FEW OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE IN THE UPCOMING WEEKS. HERE IS ONE OF THEM:

Labor day weekend 2002 coming home to Carbondale thinking it might be my last time so we were going to make it memorable. Joey and I loaded up a car with a couple bottles of piss and ready for fun. We went to Herrin and driving over there, we see our old friends driving next to us on the road. they roll down their windows to say hi, so of course we nail them with one of the bottles of piss. We then get to Herrin and hang out with John, and he tells us how he was pissed at his brother and his mom. He told us his brother was having a party at his mom's, so we should go there and fuck some things up. So we head out, but not before stealing his brother's video camera. We get the party and are just chilling out kind of being asses, but nothing too crazy. until joey tells me to come see the bathroom with him. i walk in and see a pile of shit in the tub. joey shit in the tub!!! we then run out of the house with everyone in shock. i was drinking out of one of the mom's wine glasses so i just throw it and it shatters and the outside wall of the house. we jump in the car and start reversing it, but for some reason Danni jumps in the open back window. she is hanging out while we start moving and she just falls out of the car. Driving away, we see an old lady walking down the street. We pull up next to her and nail her with the last bottle of piss.
