I'm on the Amtrak train going from Rochester, New York to Yonkers. I've already been on here for about an hour, and I have listened to Alkaline Trio the entire way. I just text messaged my friend Allison, “Should I listen to Alkaline Trio the entire 6 and a half train ride?” Her response, obviously, was “Hell yeah!” Me, being my witty self, then responded “Hell yes, I do have time to waste.” Man, I do love myself some Alkaline Trio. As I type this we are pulling into the Syracuse station. I don't know why, but I never realized how close Syracuse was to Rochester. I guess it makes sense now that my father has become a full-fledged Syracuse basketball fan. We watched the game yesterday afternoon against Louisville, which Louisville came out on top. I need to pick a Big East team to follow. I like Louisville, Georgetown, Syracuse, and Villanova. My allegiance is for sale.

I'm so fucked. A woman and her baby are sitting directly behind me and the baby is starting to cry. I would hate to be a baby on a train, or the mom that has to deal with the baby, so I feel for them. Fuck though, I hope it doesn't continue the entire ride. In the meantime, here is an update on what I did this weekend in Rochester:
1) Listened to my mom yell at me about nothing/everything.
2) Went to go see Polar Bear Club at the Bug Jar. Good venue, although very small. I really enjoyed being at a small place. It was nice and brought me back to my high school years of checking out emo and/or hardcore bands. And this show had both. First band was called Claire Danes, and they sounded like “Four Minute Mile”-era Get Up Kids. Next band was called something like Fracture or Failure or something with an F that I don't quite remember. Typical tough guy hardcore, but it was cool to see how all the kids freaked out for them. They love the mosh. The next band I missed out on, as I was at the bar talking to my friend Chad, who is like my dad's “protege” at work. Really cool guy. Then Polar Bear Club came on and didn't disappoint. It's funny how they can sound so much like Small Brown Bike, but be even more poppy and more hardcore at the same time. I'm into it. Very solid, and all the kids were going apeshit for them. Good times all around.

So the baby was actual good about crying and I was able to get some sleep. I also listened to some good music, ranging from The Get Up Kids to Spank Rock to The Smiths and even Sinead O'Conner. Now as I try to type this, the train is shaky as shit and it's a hassle to even get a word down.
I'm going to go get a drink in the food car.
